Scott and I will be heading to Orlando tomorrow to attend this year's School Products Expo hosted by the National School Supply and Equipment Association. We will be meeting with all of your favorite vendors including Carson Dellosa, Trend, Teacher Created Resources and many more to bring you the newest and best products available for your classrooms. Stay tuned to the blog because we'll keep you updated on what we find! If you have any requests for products you'd like to see at the store, please respond to this blog entry and let us know. Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday with us as we read The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. We will be making a red and white “cat in the hat” hat and a “green eggs and ham” picture of ourselves. If we have time during our story hour we will be reading many other fun and silly Dr. Seuss stories in honor of his birthday.

Our game for this week is Toot & Otto. It is a great game for all the preschoolers in your life.
Children take on the personality of two lovable pups, Toot and Otto. Each player starts off with 12 letter tiles: 6 T's and 6 O's. By dropping these tiles down the chutes on the vertical board, they begin their quest to spell their pups names. Toot or Otto can be spelled from left to right, up or down, and even diagonally!

What's so great about our game of the week you may ask... It brings a new twist to the classic game Connect Four, your children can play competitively or cooperatively, it encourages critical thinking, and it is great for travel! Toot & Otto is recommended for younger players, ages 4-7, but parents and grandparents will have a great time playing too!

Here at the Teachers' Lounge we are having a fun and exciting teacher contest in March. Make sure to take pictures of your BEST Dr. Seuss displays or activities as you celebrate his birthday March 2nd. The winner of our contest will receive a $25.00 gift card to spend in the store. How cool to get such a great reward!!! All you have to do to enter is bring us a picture (without any of your students) of your display or activity, fill out an entry form, and place them in the contest entries box at the front desk. We will be accepting entries until March 28th so you have plenty of time. We will be deciding on a winner the last weekend of March. So get those entries in and show off some of your super Dr. Seuss ideas!!!

Did you know February is Dental Health Month? Let’s learn how to take good care of our teeth with the stories Hippo’s Tooth Surprise by Marjorie Dennis Murray and Franklin and the Tooth Fairy by Paulette Bourgeois. We will also learn some fun new songs and make a funny hippo puppet with mini marshmallows for teeth.

Our new game this week at Lizzie's Demo Bar is Bananagrams! Bananagrams is a fast and fun word game that requires NO pencil, paper, or board! All you need is a table. Bananagrams is an award winning anagram game that will drive you bananas! It's for 2-4 players who play independently to construct their own connecting or intersecting words, rearranging them as often as desired. When a player finishes, additional tiles can be drawn from the "bunch". Game is over when all tiles are used. Bananagrams is great family fun as well as educational! One hand can be played in as little as 5 minutes. It is great for traveling and comes in its own zippered pouch. Ages 6-up.
