Summer Story Hours.gif) Did you know that we offer FREE story hours at The Teachers' Lounge each week? If you are looking for something fun to do with the kids this summer, stop by the store on Monday, Wednesday, or Saturday morning at 10:30 AM for story hour!
Our summer story hours will be geared for children ages 2-8, so you can bring the entire family. There will be a fun theme each week, and we will read stories, make crafts, play games, and sing songs.
You can register for our story hours by calling the store at 314-894-7000 or by visiting our website at www.the-teachers-lounge.com. We hope to see you at our next story hour!
What's New We have been adding some new CD's to our Putumayo music collection. Putumayo World Music creates several children's CD's that help introduce kids to other cultures. The fun, upbeat, and engaging songs will keep your family entertained at home or in the car.
These CD's are great for all age levels. The Dreamland collection is full of enchanting lullabies. Try using Asian Dreamland or Celtic Dreamland to soothe your baby to sleep.
The Playground collection contains tons of upbeat songs that will have your toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged kids singing along. Hawaiian Playground, French Playground, and Carribean Playground are sure to become family favorites.
Stop by The Teachers' Lounge this week to pick up a free sample CD of our favorite Putumayo songs while supplies last. You can also listen to all of the Putumayo CD's at the listening station at our Demo Bar. Get some great tunes for your summer road trip!

What's New.gif) Summer Bridge Workbooks are now in the store! These terrific workbooks from Carson Dellosa are just what your kids need to keep their school skills sharp over the summer. Each book is geared towards a specific grade level and contains numerous activities for a variety of subject areas including math, language arts and reading, and children only need to complete two pages of the workbook per day. Summer Bridge Workbooks are a great learning tool!

May 17 & 19: Spring Chicks
Cheep, cheep, cheep! Cluck, cluck, cluck! We will be reading a colorful board book called Mama Hen and Her Baby Chicks 1,2,3 by Beck Ward. Let's make a fun picture using torn paper for the nest in which a mama hen and her chicks can sit.

We will be learning about space as we read There's No Place Like Space! by Tish Rabe as well as What's Out There? by Lynn Wilson. We will get to show our creative sides when we decorate two paper plates with a variety of materials and put them together to make a flying saucer.
Story hours at The Teachers’ Lounge are highly interactive 1/2 hour sessions that focus on a selected weekly theme. Each story hour is filled with stories, games, songs, fingerplays, and art activities that promote early childhood skills for children ages 2-6.

Demo Bar Item of the Week Try out Honey Bee Tree this week at The Teachers' Lounge Demo Bar! This award winning game is great for preschoolers because it promotes counting and fine motor skills.
Players must carefully remove leaves from the honey tree. Pull the wrong one and bees will come buzzing down into your hive. The player with the least amount of bees at the end of the game is declared the winner. Will it be you?

May 3 & 5: Flowers Story Hour
Let’s discuss May flowers after all those April showers. We will be reading a story called Flower Garden by Eve Bunting as well as discussing how flowers grow with the book called How Flowers Grow by Emma Helbrough. We will make a unique and beautiful bouquet of flowers using a variety of materials.
May 10 & 12: Butterflies Story Hour
 Pretty, pretty butterflies. Let’s learn about butterflies when we read The Butterfly Alphabet Book by Brian Cassie & Jerry Pallota as well as My, Oh My-a Butterfly! by Tish Rabe. We will get to make a pretty, pretty butterfly using colorful tissue paper on the wings.
