We all know what it’s like to walk into a class and do a song-and-dance-routine to get students’ attention. We know the frustration felt when we repeat the same directions twelve times because Johnny was flipping paper at Sam, Tracie was whispering a BFF secret across the aisle to Sharie, and only 4% of the class has eyes towards the front of the room, anyway.
We all know that sometimes it feels like getting the attention of a classroom is more difficult than wrestling an army of piglets covered in Crisco. We all know.
Here’s a simple idea for getting class attention I found over at TeachingChannel. The instructor talks about consistency, method, and giving directions from the same location in the room. It’s only a minute and a half, and if you are struggling with saying the same thing 26 times and then still having someone not follow directions, well, maybe this teaching tip will provide some help. {Subscribers will need to click through to the site to view the video.}

In the future, you can write a post specifically for TeachingTipsTuesday, if you’d like, as well. Let us know about it and we may feature you!} You can also participate by using the hashtag #teachingtips on Twitter. {We’re gonna try that and see how it flies.} Thanks for continuing to build a community of positive educators in this space on the web!
